candy, candy, everywhere.
candy, candy, everywhere,
red and blue; strong and fair.
big and small; round and square,
candy, candy, everywhere.
candy, candy, everywhere,
in my tummy, in my hair.
makes me wonder why it's there,
candy, candy, everywhere.
candy, candy, everywhere,
sticky as glue, but i don't care,
ow! rips out my hair, just like nair,
candy, candy, everywhere.
candy, candy, everywhere,
surrounds my teeth, and makes me swear,
yellow as the sun, as good as air,
candy, candy, everywhere.
candy, candy, everywhere,
tootsie pops and gummy bears,
do i share, or do i dare?
candy, candy, everywhere.

Haha I LOVE this! I love the candy theme and it's just an all out there poem. Really creative! Love it, Sarah!!!!! I think a lot of people went deep (I know I did) but you kept it happy and I think that's great!

I really enjoyed the Nair reference. Boys won't get that...I also like the creativity you had with this. It made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I noticed is, you didn't capitilize your I's. And, ummm. You should add on to it, because it's cool.

Okay, redo. I don't have any suggestions for improvement because I think it's really great just like that. Maybe add another stanza or something. The rhyme scheme was pretty straightforward. AAAA. It sounds very happy and cheerful; I could picture you reading it easily. I enjoyed the Nair and the Tootsie Pops and Gummy Bears. To be honest, I kind of imagined a Dr. Seuss cartoon or something. With a bunch of candy. Like before, I totally forget what alliteration means. But you probably did it, so.... 'In my hair, just like Nair!' STANZA THREE LINE THREE 'Surrounds my teeth' STANZA FOUR LINE TWO 'Ow!' STANZa THREE LINE THREE

3. Interesting uses of diction were nair, tummy , and fair
4. An example of imagery was hair being ripped out
5. Candy candy, was an alliteration in line 1
6. Internal rhyme was in line 11
7. Personification in line 14 was "surrounds my teeth"
8. An onomatopoeia was in line 11 "ow"

that was really good Sarah!!!! I would change it up a little though and use more rhymes than candy everywhere :)
ReplyDelete1. This poem is about candy and its dangers in a humorous tone.
ReplyDelete2. One question I have for a particular line is how is candy "strong and fair"? Are you describing the quality of the candy?
3. One question I have about a particular stanza of the poem is in stanza three, how do you still love candy when it "rips out my hair" and "is sticky as glue"?
4. One question I have about the enitre poem is why do you love candy? The poem describes the down sides of eating candy, even though you love eating it, but why? Does this poem stem from a candy addiction?
4 examples of simile/metaphor:
just like nair
yellow as the sun
sticky as glue
as good as air
Symbols in the Poem
Candy- makes me think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, mountains of sweets of all different types and colors, the sticky aftertaste, happiness, and hyper and energy after eating it.

Dear Kelly Chen,
ReplyDeleteFor question number 2, you asked me if i was describing the quality of the candy when i said strong and fair. Well, the answer is yes. I was trying to describe the textures of the candy.
For question number 3, you asked how could i still love xandy even though it rios out my hair and is as sticky as glue. The only way i can think to describe it is to ask you a questio in return. Even though your sibling can be quite annoying and mean, do you still love her? That is the same tyoe of relationship I have with candy.
And for question number 4, you asked me why I love candy, with a side question of whether or not I might have an addiction. To answer your questions, no, I do not have an addiction. I love candy for the same reasons that you like the foods that you do, because it tastes good.
Sincerely,
Sarah Haslebacher
Dear Mackenzie Lawrence,
ReplyDeletein your prevous review, you had some questions for me, and so I am now going to answer them.
one question you asked me was what is nair. Well, nair is a hair removing product that girls use instead of shaving.
Another question you asked was why do I still love candy even though it rips out my hair. I would have to say that it is because it tastes good. Also, it makes me feel happy when all of that sugar enters my body.
The lastquestion you ask me was if I was eating candy when I wrote this. No, I was not eating candy, but the reason the poem is about candy is because back in eighth grade, when I had origionally written this poem, I would always eat candy during my english class, and so the idea of writing a poem about candy was born.
I hope I answered some of your questions.
Sincerely,
Sarah Haslebacher.
