"High School Life"
Oh my gosh you're finally here,
things move fast as a cheetah.
Suddenly you get growing fears,
you have to move fast so you can beat her
Join a click before they pick.
Crazy as a bull when it sees red.
Have an allibi and make it stick.
If you don't you better stay in bed.
Boom! And down you go,
like an elevator.
Stuck in the head lights like a doe.
School is a pit; the students are the gators.
Come confront the common kids,
you say your going to do it your way.
They quickly make their bids,
you finally win it's your day.

I really like how you put high school life in a different aspect. Your directly compare the life to other things. I also like how at fisrt it has a nervous tone to it then it is victorious at the end.
ReplyDeleteI think you could improve on the rhyme scheme a little bit because when you read it at first, you have to stop and read it again because it doesn't completly flow at first. Another thing I think you caould improve your diction a little bit.
1.)The rhyme scheme is A,B,A,B
2.)The poets tone at first is nervous, then graudually througout the day the author gets comfertable in the middle and victorious at the end.
3.)The interesting uses of diction were in the 2nd stanza whre you used the words so it seems like it is a threatening and if you don't do this then there are consequences. Like it says joining a group before people pick you, get a reputaion, if not then you will be dead.
4.)The doe stuck in hyeadlights is an example of imagery
5.) Come confront common
6.)joing a click before they pick
7.) beat her, 1st stanza, her is the school
8.) Boom, representing the person going down

1) This poem was about the life of a brand spanking new high school student and the challenges they'll face socially with other students.
ReplyDelete2) I don't understand what you mean in line 15. What are the students bidding on?
3) I don't undestand the second stanza and what it means as a whole. I know it's about social cliques, but what about them? Explain more please.
4) Is this poem based on personal experiences?
Simile/Metaphor examples:
A) as fast as a cheetah
B) crazy as bull when it sees reads
C) stuck in the head lights like a doe
D) the students are the gators
I assosciate "stuck in the head lights like a doe" with surprise, fear, panic, and being caught unprepared/off guard.
I liked this poem, good job. :]
1)This poem was about a new student at a new school and how they adapt to their new school life
ReplyDelete2)In the first line of the second stanza, what are 'they' picking?
3)I really don't understand what the third stanza is saying. What are you trying explain there?
4)have you had experiences at a new school before?
-as fast as a cheetah
-crazy as a bull when it sees red
-stuck in the headlights like a doe
-the students are the gators
