STEP 3

STEP 3

Computer Lab final Day…
When you enter the lab, you will have your finished, revised poem with you.
1) Visit http://www.wordle.net/ and create a word cloud (the link can be found at the bottom of the blog).  Write, or copy and paste your poem into wordle.  After you design the word cloud, click save to public gallery and give your word cloud a title.  Copy the above link and paste it into a new blog post.  We will go over this together in class before you submit your poem.
2) Copy and paste your finished poem underneath your wordle link.
3) Type your first name followed by the period in your title.
4) Submit your poem.
5) When you have finished, leave comments for each individual assigned to your group as you did in step 2.  Click on the person name to leave a comment.  In this you will write the following:
- one aspect of the poem you enjoyed.
- one thing that needs improvement.
- one thing you noticed about their wordle design that you enjoyed.
- type your name and period at the end of your comment
In addition, answer the poetry checklist questions for each group member within the blog.
Return to your blog post and read the comments left by your group members
We will then return to class once everyone is finished for the poetry review and discussion.

STEP 2

STEP 2
Computer Lab Day…
Now that you have written your poems, you will be posting them to the blog for peer review and editing.
You will have 15 minutes to type your poem.  Click on new blog post and begin by typing your first name and period in the title.  Next, begin typing your poem in the text box exactly as you have written it.  Once you are finished click submit.
In your group, read and offer suggestions to the other members of your group.  Select the name of your group member and under their post, click post a comment.  Your blog comment should include:

- two aspect of the poem you really enjoyed.
- two suggestions for improvement.
- Type your first name at the bottom.
In addition, answer the poetry checklist questions in each blog post.
When you are finished reading and reviewing each poem, return to the blog to read the comments left for your particular poem.  Take notes on the comments and keep them with the poetry checklists returned to you.  You will use these to revise your poem.
When you are finished reading the comments left for you, begin to revise your poem in a separate document or on your original sheet of paper.  YOU WILL ADD ONE EXTRA STANZA TO ANY PART OF YOUR POEM for a total of 16 lines. You will need this revised poem for next class.

STEP 1

Hello Class!
Welcome to the poetry blog…
This is where you will post your poems and activities, find your assignments, locate notes and information, and discover links to poems and poetry websites.
For your poetry assignment, you will first do the following:
Compose a poem of at least three stanzas. It can be on any topic or choose a picture from the bottom of the blog.
4 lines in each stanza; 12 lines
Must have a rhyme scheme of your choice
Contain at least 4 similes and/or metaphors
      1 use of alliteration
      1 use of internal rhyme
      1 use of onomatopoeia
      1 use of personification
You must have your first draft of this poem on our first day in the computer lab.  It can be written or typed, but I will be checking to make sure it is complete.  In the computer lab, we will work on developing your poem and you will do some peer and self editing.
Please read the additional posts pertaining to each step of the process.  This post is step 1.  To complete it, you must show me your poem and have it approved.
