Alijah Period 8

Each stair gets higher, each step gets harder,
But I can never look back down.
Each road gets longer, and I get stronger,
But I can't turn back now.

Each battle will throw me to the ground,
But I'll always land on my feet.
Each wiser choice, will give me a voice,
And each step turns to a leap.

Knock knock who's there?, but I can't say I care,
It's not the other side I want to see.
Fear knocks at my door,
But I know that it can't faze me.

Each fight is worse; I'll accept the curse,
But I won't let it get the best of me.
Bad battles every day, can't take my faith,
Just wait around, you'll see.

Every staircase is as tall as the sky,
Every battle is like a storm.
Each fight is as big as the mountains high,
Bravery is like a shelter, and I'll stay safe and warm.

  1. Two aspects of the poem I enjoyed were the references and the internal rhymes. I thought the poem overall was really good.
Two improvements are you only had 3 similes and no metaphors, and no alliteration.
    1. The rhyme scheme is ABCBDEFEGHIHJKLKMNON.
    2. The tone is deep and accomplished.
    3. Three uses of diction are wiser, faze, and curse.
    4. One example of imagery is "Knock, knock who's there?, but I can't say I care".
    5. There is no alliteration.
    6. Internal rhymes were used multiple times, one example is "Each road gets longer, and I get stronger" (Line 3).
    7. The personification is "Fear knocks at my door" (Line 11).
    8. The onomatopoeia is "Knock knock" (Line 9).

  3. 1)This poem is about being a strong person and being proud of who you are. Also, saying nothing will stop her from doing what she believes in.
2)One question I have for a particular line of the poem is how do you be so creative.
3)One question I have about a particular stanza of the poem is how do you still be strong even if you get the bad things happen to you.
4)One question I have about the poem is how did you make great connections to everything that actually does happen in life?
5)Two examples of similes were, "Every battle is like a storm," and "Bravery is like a shelter." Two examples of metaphors were, "Every staircase is as tall as the sky," and "Each flight is as high as the mountains high."
6)When I read the line,"Every battle will throw me to the ground, but I'll always land on my feet" the word life comes to my mind. When I think of the word life I think of being strong, knowing whats right, and always wanting just to be yourself and you are happy with that.

  4. 1. I think this poem is about life's perseverance and struggles.

    2. What did the words in line 19 "Each fight is as big as the mountains high" mean? I don't know how you could compare a fight to a mountain, but ok.

    3. I don't have a question about a particular stanza.

    4. Did the person ever overcome their troubles?

    5. Four examples of similes were, "Every battle is like a storm," and "Bravery is like a shelter." "Every staircase is as tall as the sky," and "Each flight is as high as the mountains high."
