Michael Period 8

Dad arrives early at the parking lot,
Sets up a lot of grills and gets them hot.
The tailgaters surround us at the spot,
Ready to satisify their hunger with one shot.

Hot peppers and onions are on the grill,
For many sandwhiches they must fill.
Once their full like pigs they stop at their will,
All the tailgaters then climb up the hill.

On the bleachers we watch the team go.
Up and down the feild like animals, my what a show!
Every play is never the same,
Ooh's and Aah's fill the crowd "Wow what a game."

The game is over and like a herd of cows we go back down,
The tailgaters are like vultures and ready to eat some mo.
Everybody's happy because we have won,
Dad then packs up and says, "Wow how much fun!"

  1. -I like the extraordinary expression of an ordinary tailgate with imagery and thought.
It also made me hungry :( jk :).

-I think you could describe the game in more detail, like who is playing, or the score, and the party after the game.

    1. Rhyme Scheme: A,A,A,A, B,B,B,B, C,C,D,D, C,C,E,E.

3."Sets up the grill" makes one think of eating
"Every play is never the same" makes you think of the versatility of a football game plays
"Everybody's happy because we have won" conveys a sense of victory or accomplishment

    4. "Hot peppers and onions" put you in mind of classic tailgating food

  3. This is about tailgating a football game.

"The tailgaters are like vultures and ready to eat some mo" Did you mean to type "more", or did you WANT to sound "gangster"?

"Hot peppers and onions are on the grill,
For many sandwhiches they must fill.
Once their full like pigs they stop at their will,
All the tailgaters then climb up the hill." Do you help your Dad in making these sandwiches?

Would you rather tailgate or watch the game in the stadium?

Example 1: "Once their full like pigs they stop at their will"

Example 2: "Up and down the feild like animals, my what a show!"

Example 3: "The game is over and like a herd of cows we go back down,"

Example 4: "The tailgaters are like vultures and ready to eat some mo."

When you said "The game is over and like a herd of cows we go back down", I thought of the lunchline at school.

  4. 1) The poem is about going tailgating during a football game.

2)Line 10: What kinds of animals were you picturing when you said "like animals"?

3)Last stanza: Was the poem based off a game that you went to?

4)If you had the chance, would you relive that day? I'm assuming yes!

4 examples of silmile/metaphor: "full like pigs", "like animals", "like a herd of cows" and "like vultures".

At the line "tailgaters surround us at the spot", I thought of being trapped, feeling apnicked, but also being overwhelmed with happiness from so many people. I also thought of my own sport, softball, and the pileups that we get into at the end of a winning game :)
