Erica
Her name is Erica Jones.
She's a Mormon with red hair.
She likes to talk on the phone.
She also eats like a bear.
Her hair breathes fire.
She burps like a man.
She is not a liar.
But sometimes I'd like to smack her with my hand.
She's a ginger with ten fingers.
She's a superior saxophone player.
She sounds like a famous singer.
And she's as good as our mayor.
Her attitude is silly.
She has a little sister named Abbie.
Even though her name isn't Willy.
She likes to be gabby.

-Two aspects of the poem I enjoyed were the humor and the thoughtful rhymes.
ReplyDelete-Two suggestions for improvement would be more lines in a stanza and maybe more imagery.
1.)The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABAB.
2.)The poems tone is cheery and playful.
3.)Three interesting uses of diction would be her comparisons between hair and fire, a person and the mayor, and also eating habits and a bear's.
4.)When the author describes the person with their hair, it shows an example of imagery.
5.)Line 10 shows an example of alliteration.
6.)Line 9 shows an example of internal rhyming.
7.)Line 5 shows an example of personification.
8.)Line 6 shows an example of an onomatopoeia.

-Two aspects I really enjoyed were her descriptions and her figurative language.
ReplyDelete-Two suggestions for improvement are to make the eighth line fit in with the rhythm from the rest of the stanza and to make some of the figurative language a little nicer.
1)The rhyme scheme is A, B, A, B.
2)The poet's tone was happy and pleasant.
3)Three interesting uses of diction were burps, superior, and smack.
4)One example of imagery was "Her hair breathes fire."
5)Alliteration was used with "superior saxophone," which is in line 10.
6)Internal rhyme was used with ginger and fingers. It's in line 9.
7)Personification was used with "Her hair breathes fire," in line 5.
8)Onomatopoeia was used in line 6 with "burps."

4 examples of similes and/or metaphors are:
-She also eats like a bear.
-She burps like a man.
-She sound like a famous singer.
-And she's as good as our mayor.
The word "burps" reminds me of gas, food, and hiccups.
