TJ Period 5

This is a Poem by me,
For English class of course not PE.
My only wish is that this could be easier,
Instead I'm like a buzzing bee getting only busier.

Writing poems aren't as easy as they seem,
Yet when they are assigned, students beam and gleam
They think poems are a piece of cake,
But they are as wrong as the boogey man is fake

So again, this is a poem written by me,
I'm writing this but would rather be watching TV
In all reality I should be in my warm, cozy bed
After going to Subway and finally getting fully fed.

This is a poem written by me,
For English class, not for PE.
Now I'm finished and heading to bed,
Walking down the hallway, very sleepy, as I previously said...

  1. Two aspects of the poem I enjoyed were the good usage of words that both made sense together and rhymed well. I also liked that the poem was not jut something you mad up, but about the poem itself.
I believe the poem could be improved by making the rhyme scheme more regular.
    1) AABB
    2) The tone was funny and indifferent.
    3) The use of the boogy man, beam, and gleam.
    4) In the third stanza, imagery is created about someone working on writing a poem when they'd rather be asleep or watching TV.
5)Simply smiling simile was an example of alliteration.
    6) Beam and gleam, in the second line of the second stanza.
7)An example of personification is when he syas that the simile was smiling.
    8) Onomatopoeia is used in the third line of the second stanza, buzzing.

  3. Two aspects of the poem that I enjoyed was your creative word choice and that I completely agree with the topic you wrote about.
A suggestion would be to fix the last line of the first stanza because it does not follow the rhyme scheme.
    1. A, A, B, B
    2. Your tone was cheeful and funny.
    3. P.E., boogy man, gleam
    4. In the third stanza, imagery is created about someone who should be in bed after eating dinner instead of writing a poem.
    5. Alliteration- line 5 of stanza 1, "simply smiling simile"
    6. Internal rhyme- line 2 of stanza 2, "beam and gleam"
    7. Personification- line 5 of stanza 1, "smiling simile"
    8. Onomatopoeia- line 3 of stanza 2, like the "buzzing" of a bee

  4. This poem is about someone who would rather be doing something other than writing this poem!

Line 12 says "going to subway and finally getting fully fed" makes me wonder if this person is always hungry or just hungry right then

the second stanza makes me wonder if he beamed and gleamed and thought the assignment was easy and is now just getting mad or if he saw everyone react this way at the begining and knew it would be be this way from the start.

this poem makes me wonder if he really hates this assignment or if he is acctually having a little fun with it.

    similies and metaphors:
    I'm like a buzzing bee
poems are a piece of cake
as wrong as the boogey man is fake
**there is no fourth similie or metaphor**

buzzing bee- enerjetic, small, anoying, loud, constant motion, honey

  5. 1. This poem is about TJ himself talking about writing this very pome and being tired while hes doing it.
2.Writing poems aren't as easy as they seem- I wonder why you said this when you have just written this very nice poem.
    3. Sanza 2 because I wonder whare you got the boogey man from.
    4. The entire pome was well written but was wonder why you kept repeting the same two lines over again.
    Similes and Metaphor

  6. 1.) This poem is about a person having to write a poem and not really knowing what exactly to write about.
2.)One question I have for a particular line of the poem is in line #8 why you chose to put the boogey man into your poem?
3.) One question I have about a particular stanza of the poem is stanza # 3 what made you decide to repeat that you are writing a poem again?
4.) One question I have about the entire poem is what inspired you to write about you writing the poem?
    Examples of Similes and Metaphors
1.) "as wrong as the boogey man" line #8
2.) "are a piece of cake" line #7
    3.) "like a buzzing bee" line #4
4.) none, something you could use is "students beam and gleam like the sun"
    Symbolic Word

  7. This was really funny and entertaining, and I really enjoyed it.

This poem, to me, is about having something better to do, but still giving what you have to do your best effort.

Line: What made you think of the comparison to the Boogey man?

Stanza: The first stanza, what was your inspiration?

Poem: The poem seems to be one big complaint, so I have to ask: did you enjoy writing this at all?

Similes and metaphors: I'm like a buzzing bee getting only busier, poems are a piece of cake, they are as wrong as the boogey man is fake, ? I think that "Writing poems aren't as easy as they seem," could be a simile but Mr. Patrick disagrees. Sorry, I tried to defend it.

Symbol: Boogey man makes me think of childish fears, wild imaginations, and stories from when I was small.
