Reuel Period 5

I hate poems yes I do,
I hate poems how about you?
Poems are supposed to sing and shout,
But all of mine just go splat like an unready baby bird.

I hate homework yes I do,
I hate homework how about you?
Homework makes me want to shout it all out,
But all I do is walk way away.

I hate poems yes I do,
I hate poems how a bout you?
Most poems are like undiscovered places,
But mine are trite.

I hate homework yes I do,
I hate homework how about you?
Big reports like to be eaten away slowly like a huge piece of cake,
And small reports like to be eaten quickly like a cookie.

If another verse is what you seek,
Well homework sucks and poems reek.
Can't think of anything else,
So go away!

  1. I liked the first part of every stanza and what it was about.i liked those because they were funny. You could have made the last one more interesting and made it a little longer.
the rhyme scheme was A A B C. why did you use trite? I don't remeber what that means. Also the baby bird part, yea thats sad you shouldn't have put that.Cake should be eaten with pride and indulgence. Walk way away. i didn't see any
    none

  3. 1. This poem is about your pure hatred of poetry and homework.
    2. One question I have is about line 4, what made you think about comparing your poems to a baby bird going splat?
    3. One question I have is about stanza 4, why did you change the format and not use "I hate.... yes I do, etc." of the first 2 lines?
    4. One question I have about the entire poem is
how did you think of the similies you used?
-"But all of mine just go splat like an unready baby bird"
-"Most poems are like undiscovered places"
-"Big reports like to be eaten away slowly like a huge piece of cake"
-"And small reports like to be eaten quickly like a cookie"
Homework- working hard, getting graded, not fun, must focus, students

  6. My reply to the comment
    2) mine end up failing and I used that as a simile.
3)I decided not to because I wanted to put more into it, but I ended up just putting "Can't think of anything else,
So go away" because I was looking for the words for an hour and gave up.
    4) I think that there were more than needed, but thats what you get for english class.

  7. 1. This poem is about hatred for poems and homework.
    2. One question about line 15 is why did you compare big reports to a huge peice of cake being eaten away slowly.
    3. A question that I have about stanza 1 is why do you have a negative feeling toward your poems?
    4. A question that I have about the entire poem is what made you write about this topic?

Four examples of similes/metaphors are "But all mine just go splat like an unready baby bird", "Most poems are like undiscovered places", "Big reports like to be eaten away slowly like a huge peice of cake", and "And small reports like to be eaten away quickly like a cookie".

hate- negative, dislike, mean, mad, homework, blackness

    2) If you think about it, people like to eat them all really fast, but it is easier to eating slow. Plus I am a slow eater so it works for me.
3)Poems are stupid and I cannot write them well.
4)I was assigned to write a poem and i hate poems.
