Uzak the Penguin
Have you heard of a penguin called Uzak?
Quite a witty penguin he may be,
But not the sharpest animal in the sea,
Is this penguin called Uzak.
Uzak cannot swim,
He hadn’t heard of such a thing,
He would much rather sing and swing
Then dance in waves that swallow him.
Uzak tried to swim one day,
For he wanted to be brave,
But SPLASH, CRASH, WOOSH went Uzak in the waves!
Till poor drowned Uzak finally reached the bay.
Little Uzak swore never to swim again,
He was as wet as a dog,
His smooth fins were slimy like frogs,
Poor Uzak was as afraid as a hen.
I love the cute little Penguin!!!!!! I love the rhyme and diction too.
ReplyDeleteI beleive in stanza 4 line 3 you ment "smooth" not "smoot" so, check spelling. I would also use exclamation points after splash crash and whoosh.
1-a,b,b,a
2-playful but also like a frightened child
3-Uzak and slimy frogs
4-wet as a dog
5-quite witty penguin line stanze 1 line 2
6-sing and swing stanza 2 line 3
7-Uzak thinks like a human all throughout!
8-splash crash whoosh stanza 3 line 3

You're poem's really cute! The endings a little depressing, though. But a good poem. I love that it's about a penguin, and how lighthearted it is. The only suggestions I would make are to try to stick to one rhyme scheme, and more imagery could've been used. The rhyme scheme was changed throughout. The first and second was ABBA. The third was AAAA. Then, it switched back to ABBA. The tone was funny. Using the word witty was a good use of diction. Uzak crashing in the waves was a good use of imagery. Sing and swing, and splash, crash, and woosh was good use of alliteration(Stanza 2,line 3 and stanza 3 line 3). Internal rhyme was used in both alliterations. Personification was having a penguin think human thoughts. Otomatopoeia is splash, crash and woosh.

This poem is about an unlucky penguin named Uzak, who tried to swim but failed. One question I have for line 1 of stanza 2 is: Why didn't Uzak ever learn how to swim? A question I have about stanza 3 is: Where did Uzak try to swim? The question I have for the whole poem is: Where does Uzak live? A symbolic waord is dance. Dance- school, disco ball, music, lights, couples, fun, exciting, classes, passion, tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, salsa, recital. Good Job!

Uzak never learned how to swim because he has a fear of water so he sings and plays instead so he's a lonely penguin. he tryed swimming in the arctic ocean because that's where he lives.

I came up the name Uzak from my friend, Kazu (if you know him). He drowns because he's afraid of water so he never got the hang of swimming. I came up with this penguin while chatting with Kazu, because I kept making penguins so I named it after him. :D
