Emilee 5th period

Rainy Day

As i look across the way,
on this dark dreary day,
I see a girl in great dismay.
I look and I wonder,
what could be so wrong?

Why must she be in sorrow?
Is it her little mind the world borrowed.
Little girl please move on to tomorrow.
For it is just another day,
In a world made with rain.

For the little girl in the rain
today is just a pain,
because today is just so plain.
For it is like any other day,
to a girl playing in the rain.

The rain pours down like the tears off a girls face.
But in this powerful peaceful place,
then girl went "splash" to the pace.
The little girl plays, as the day will never change.
Today is just like anyother day.

  1. The two main aspects of this poem that I enjoyed were the comparison between the rain and sorrow. My only suggestion for you is to make your sentences longer. The rhyme scheme of this poem is A A A B C. The tone in your poem was one of enthusiasium. Three interesting uses of diction were the words dreary, dismay, and sorrow; these words were very discriptive and set the girls mood very easily. One great use of imagery was the line "On this dark and dreary day," wich paint a picture in my mind. Alliteration is used in the line "On a dark dreary day." No internal rhyme was used. Personification was used in dreary day, for a day has no emotion. No example of Onomatopoeia was used. Kyle Stephens

  5. This poem is about a young girl having bad, rainy day.
One question I have about the 3rd line of the 4th stanza is: why is she playing in the rain if it's such a bad day?
One question I have about stanza 2 is what made the girl so sad besides the fact that it's raining?
One question I have about the entire poem is why does she stay and make herself miserable in the rain if she could just go inside?
Two examples of metaphors and similes in this poem are: " today is just a pain" and "The rain pours down like the tears off a girls face," these were the only two i could detect.
Rain could represent: Earth, rivers, and sadness.
